What is an eyebrow transplant?

Fine follicles are moved from the scalp or body to the brows. The surgeon selects follicles that match the brows in colour and thickness, and places them at the precise angle and direction of natural brow growth for a completely natural result.

8 conditions / who is a candidate

1. People with trichotillomania (compulsive brow-plucking).
2. Those with sparse brows wanting natural thickening.
3. Follicles damaged by burns or suturing scars.
4. Gaps in the brows, naturally or from an old injury.
5. A skin condition that caused permanent follicle damage and shedding.
6. Ideally aged 30+ (or as the doctor decides).
7. Enough donor follicles on the scalp that suit the brow shape.
8. Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with contagious skin disease or blood/heart conditions.

Before the procedure

• The surgeon reviews your history and current medications.
• Tests confirm good general health.
• The technique and graft count are planned.
• Stop smoking and blood thinners (aspirin) for at least two weeks before and after.

How it’s done

Most people need only 50–350 hairs per brow. After sterilising and drawing the brow outline, the surgeon harvests fine follicles (e.g. from above the ear) and places them into tiny channels, respecting the growth angle and direction.

Recovery

• Take antibiotics and pain relief on time.
• Wipe the brows gently in the direction of growth; don’t press on them.
• Sleep on your back and avoid sleeping face-down for weeks.
• Use gentle, doctor-approved cleansers; no makeup on the brows.
• Don’t shave, dye or trim the brows for at least a month, and avoid direct sun for a week.

Results

Transplanted hairs shed early (follicles settle within about three weeks), then new growth begins from the third to sixth month, with the best result at one to one-and-a-half years — and it’s permanent.
