Micro-cell hair regeneration — also known as Regenera — is one of the newest, non-surgical answers to advanced hair loss. Cells with stem-cell-like properties are drawn from your own follicles, multiplied, and injected into thinning areas to reactivate growth and boost density in a single 30-minute session.
What is micro-cell (Regenera) hair regeneration?
Micro-cells are extracted from your own hair follicles and behave like stem cells — they can divide and take on the function of the cells around them. When injected into thinning areas, they encourage the scalp to grow hair and increase density. It is a strong option for people with advanced loss who lack enough dense follicles for a conventional transplant.
Who is a candidate?
Both men and women with advanced loss, insufficient or unstable donor follicles, or heavy shedding — patients who are not ideal candidates for traditional transplantation. General health should be good with no chronic skin disease.
Before the session
No special preparation is needed — the procedure is simple and non-surgical. Your doctor reviews your medical history, checks the scalp, defines your goal and measures density, then schedules the session.
How the session works
The scalp is prepared and sterilised. A small sample — three tiny punch biopsies containing follicles, skin and fat — is taken from an area of fine hair such as behind the ear or the back of the head. A device separates and multiplies the cells into a liquid rich in micro-cells and stem cells, which is then injected into the thin and empty areas under local anaesthetic. The whole session takes about 30 minutes.
Recovery
Because the cells come from your own body, there are no allergic reactions or real downtime. The only instruction is to avoid washing the hair for 72 hours; you can resume daily activities the same day. Follow-up visits assess your response.
Results timeline
Early growth begins after just one month, a noticeable result appears within about 16 weeks (three to four months), and the final result shows at around one year. To reinforce and prolong the outcome, doctors often combine it with PRP injections, whose growth factors support follicle health. The session can be repeated after about two years.
Does it replace a hair transplant?
No. Regenera suits people with heavy shedding who are not candidates for — or do not want — surgery, and it gives a natural boost in density. But it is a different tool: a transplant redistributes follicles from dense areas to thin ones for permanent, higher density. The two are used in different situations.
