Otoplasty (Ear Surgery) and Its Cost

Otoplasty reshapes prominent or ‘bat’ ears, pinning them closer to the head for a balanced, natural look. It’s a straightforward, highly satisfying procedure. Here’s the right age, how it’s done, and the cost.

What is otoplasty?

A cosmetic ear procedure that corrects ears that stick out, are misshapen, or are asymmetrical — reshaping the cartilage and repositioning the ear for a natural result.

The right age

Ear cartilage is largely developed by about age 5–6, so otoplasty can be done from early childhood onwards — and at any age in adults.

How it’s done

Through a small incision behind the ear, the surgeon reshapes or trims the cartilage and stitches the ear into a natural position closer to the head. It takes about one to two hours.

Recovery

A supportive headband is worn for a short period. Mild swelling and bruising settle within one to two weeks, and most people return to normal activity within about a week.

Results

The ears sit naturally against the head, with a permanent, balanced result once healing is complete.
